Happy Garden Re-leaf Day! This year’s charity extravaganza takes place on 18 March and there’s loads for you to join in with all over the country – including plenty of special events here at our garden centre in Chorley.
Garden Re-Leaf involves the whole of the gardening industry and is now in its fifth year. In 2015 the event raised over £95,000 for the Greenfingers charity, which helps thousands of seriously ill children staying in hospices to enjoy spending time with their families outdoors in specially-created therapy gardens.
Garden centres around the country are running loads of special offers and fun activities.
Among this year’s special events are the Garden Re-Leaf Walk, a sponsored walk of about 20 miles starting and finishing at the Horticultural Trade Association’s office in Theale, West Berkshire. Anyone can join in to do the walk alongside those who work in the horticultural industry.
There’s also a sponsored 24 hour Plant-athon in garden centres across the country, starting on Thursday 17th March and finishing – with many blistered hands and sore backs! – on Friday 18th.
This year all the money raised is going towards Greenfingers’ ‘A Million Moments Appeal’ which aims to raise £1 million in the next three years. To find out more, visit www.gardenreleaf.co.uk.
